made by Nyishi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh

The following are the some of the Handicraft Items that are made by the Nyishi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. These handicraft are made fro bamboo and canes which are locally available in their region. Earlier the handicraft were made to used for house hold utility as well as for agricultural equipment.

MURA
This is known as "Mura". Initially the whole part of Mura is made of cane and bamboo only. But later rope portion is changed with plastic rope. There are different types and sizes are made depend on requirement.
XOTA
In Nyishi tribe language, this entity is known as "Xota" ( sound as Hota). The whole body is made of bamboo and cane.
This is used for various purposes such as storing rice, holding vegetables, used as a basket,etc.
HOOKU
This product is known as "Hooku" (in Nyishi language), which is used as a plate in ancient time, but now can found in house hold as decorative piece.
NARA
In Nyishi language this is known as "Nara". it is mainly used as a bag by the male group for carrying various things, from agricultural used to hunting expedition.
OPIY
This is known as "Opiy" in Nyishi language. it is generally used for cleaning husk from rice, and it has also many other uses. It is an essential material in every household.
These are only a few collection of handicraft that are made/prepared by Nyishi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. Some more will be update soon.
