Editor: Likha Taje

Igin is a type of basket that usually carried by women in Arunachal Pradesh and some states of North East India.

The word Igin is from Nyishi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.

This is the Picture of "Igin" by Nyishi Tribe.

There are different shape and size of Igin with respect to the need and comfortability of work.

This  is with  another shape and size.

As from both picture we can see that the base of the Basket is different.  This Igin is made with cane and bamboo. Both materials can be put together in one set but durability would different and cost too. The one which is fully made with cane stays more than one with bamboo and cost of the Igin (Basket) which is made fully with cane is more cost and looks much beautiful than bamboo.

There are uses of this basket which is locally called as Igin (in Nyishi Tribe). it is used to carry fire-wood, vegetable and mostly it is carried while going to agricultural field.
